About Nick

If elected, I will work every day to bring new and exciting ventures to Okanogan. Losing the mills across the County was devastating. Hundreds of jobs gone overnight and The County has taken nearly thirty years to start to recover. Mining and logging were gutted due to governmental overreach; Ag has been on a steady downward trend as packing houses and regulations take their toll on the family farm. To truly thrive as a County we need larger industries to join our community - run by people who share our values and will work to create jobs and maintain this great place we call home.

Nick Timm

Like many of you, I was born and raised in Okanogan County. I'm a fourth generation farmer in the Okanogan Valley. Aside from the decade I spent serving our great nation in the United States Air Force, I've lived here. This is the only home I've ever known and I intend to keep it the amazing place it is. I am an avid outdoorsman, sportsman, writer, photographer, teacher, business owner, construction manager, farmer, tinkerer, half-decent cook and scientist.

I graduated from Okanogan High School and went right into the USAF. I enlisted for 6 - Years and then after that did an additional 4 - Year stint. It ended up being a little longer than that, but what's another few months between a guy and the country he loves?

I would have stayed in longer, probably doing a full 20 years or more, but my dad, Chris Timm, developed Multiple Stage 4 Cancers while I was on my last deployment. I returned home and took over my dad's responsibilities along with my lovely wife, Lisa. Despite the best efforts of our family, the local medical staff and my dad - he passed away in September of 2021. It was then I promised to make Okanogan an even better place to live and continue to attract top-notch medical professionals so anyone else going through any illness can have the absolute best help they can get.

While all of this was going on, Lisa and I began purchasing and renovating old buildings around Okanogan. To date, we have fixed up and put back on the market over a dozen buildings. We always make sure to rent them at affordable rates to ensure vulnerable-populations have access to needed resources. We have assisted with and created over one hundred jobs and played key rolls in revializing downtown Okanogan. Just imagine what will happen when we scale up to work across the entire County as your County Commissioner.

We're not just involved in business - We also have a vested interest in preserving the unique heritage and history of Okanogan County. Our proudest moment is when our team, while fiixing up the old Hub Carlton building (Now The Red Light) in Okanogan, discovered an intact and hidden piece of Okanogan history. We discovered 2 - 60ft by 12ft murals depicting a wonderfully executed scene from Europe, painted when the building was the local playhouse in an effort to make the new European immigrants feel at home. The mural was successfully removed from the walls, affixed to a new backing and stored in a safe, climate controlled storage unit. We are currently looking for a home for the 2 pieces, but they are just so BIG! It's hard to find enough wallspace to fit anything like that in our modern era.

Hey Everyone,

I got a great question the other day.

Part of a County Commissioner's job stretches onto the Colville Reservation and all of the folks who live on the Reservation. The Reservation has its own unique set of challenges you really have to be part of the community to understand.

The question was - As County Commissioner, how would I be able to understand and address the issues which are unique to The Reservation?

It's a great question and something I feel few other past Commissioners and no else in the running can constructively address.

I was born and raised on The Reservation. My family has farmed there for almost as long as Okanogan County has been Okanogan County. I have many friends and family members who live on The Rez and half of my life revolves around working / living here.          Aside from the time I was in the United States Air Force, I've lived in Okanogan County.

This fact makes me uniquely qualified to serve all of Okanogan County's citizens - On and off The Reservation. I know the right people to get things done, I have friends and family who are willing to put the work in to get things done and we have a proven history of working together to great effect.

If that's not enough, I've got a little kicker for you.

Little known fact - I'm a proud, fully-vested member of the Choctaw Tribe. I have a lot of family who live in and around our Tribal HQ in Oklahoma. I grew up with old stories of our people and our culture you don't get a lot of anymore as Elders pass away and this valuable cultural heritage is lost forever. I'm so lucky to have gotten the small pieces I have and I constantly look for ways to apply this old wisdom to modern day issues we all face every day.

Should I be elected, a big part of my platform will be working with the MMIWG (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls) Task Force and actively working to reduce and ultimately eliminate the issues The Task force has identified.

Thanks for reading through everyone! If you have any questions, comments or concerns please send me a message and I'll get back to you ASAP.

   Talk soon!

   -Nick Timm
